Progeny

Sambourne Castor is a Piebald Colt foal out of Sky Dancer and by Jim Bob and is a full brother to Hidden Agenda (Boston) and Sambourne Kesara and was born on the 14th March 2020.  He is currently a skewbald but will turn piebald.  Lovely elegant looking boy has a lot of presence and quality about him which he has inherited from his mother. Very inquisitive and eager to learn and will be good dressage prospect.  

It is with deep sadness I have to announce that Skye was put to sleep on vet advice on 21st April 2022 at 9.30am.  Skye had suffered with lymphangitis from March 2021 just before she was due to foal.  Despite us treating it almost immediately with antibiotics it took a hold.  We did everything our vets told us to do, ensured she had lots of exercise but the leg never really recovered.  We had five different vets out to attend to eight attacks and the last attack took place some three weeks ago where we put her on a ten day antibiotic and steroid programme which seemed to work and reduce the leg back down. The attending vet at the time warned us that she would be battling attacks like this for the rest of her life so we would need to seriously consider the quality of her life.  During that time we had her scanned for pregnancy and found out she had a tumor on her left ovary which had grown enormously and had impacted the right one reducing it in size meaning there would be no chance of getting her in foal.  The vets offered an expensive operation to remove the left ovary and she would then have the Summer to recover during which the right ovary should recover and start functioning as normal thus being able to use her as a broodmare again. However on the 20th April, Skye suffered a substantial lymphangitis attack causing her leg to swell considerably and the decision was then made to put her to sleep.  Skye was a complete lunatic at times but I loved her dearly and she did love me in her funny kind of way.  I loved her deeply, RIP Skye.

Skye retired from racing in October 2018 but raced in six races from 2017 to 2018 and managed to get placed on a few occasions.  She is a lovely well made, athletic mare standing 16.1hh and was born in 2013. She is by Sea Freedom out of a mare called Money Central who is by Central Park. Skye had a lovely dun filly foal on the 15th April which is called Sambourne Carissa by Kinsky Abraham.  Skye has turned out to be a fantastic mum and is really protective and loves her foal.  Skye will be left empty this year and covered in Spring of 2022.

May is a 16.1hh registered Bay Thoroughbred mare born in 2007 mare by Indian Danehill.  She had a very successful racing career winning 2 hurdle races and ran in flat, hurdle, chases and point to points but suffered a career ending injury and has come to us to live the rest of her life as a broodmare.  Lovely mare and very easy to do.  Very sadly May was put to sleep on veterinary advice on 31st October 2022.  She succumbed to a life threatening and extremely sudden attack of colitis within 24 hours with no hope of recovery.  We loved May and will miss her terribly but will cherish her one and only filly foal.  

Sambourne Triton Born 18th July 2019 Skewbald Colt Foal out of Midge and by Jim Bob and is a full brother to our stallion Sambourne Kratos.  Will make 16.2hh plus. Going to be a good solid heavyweight real stocky sort. Good markings and very even all round.  Will be great both in Showing and any sports horse discipline. 

Sambourne Selene was born on 23 July 2019. Skewbald Filly Foal to make 16hh plus. Out of Noodles and by Jim Bob and is a full sister to Sambourne Minton.   Lovely even markings on both sides very eye catching. Should show very well as well as having potential in any sports discipline.  Sweet kind nature and should mature into a good middleweight. 

Sambourne Helios Born 13th July 2019 Skewbald Colt Foal out of Mandy and by Jim Bob and is a full brother to Sambourne Zephyrus, Sambourne Calypso and Sambourne Theia.  Will make 16hh, possibly more. Lovely chunky solid boy, very glitzy in his appearance and has a very extravagant movement. Going to look great in the showing ring and plenty of sport horse ability. Will excel as a Show Hunter. 

Sambourne Odin, was born very late in November 2018.  He is by Jim Bob out of BB Butterfly and is a full brother to Sambourne Laverna (Leah).  We hope he follows in the footsteps of his sister in dressage.

Jester and Minstrel - full brothers by Jim Bob out of Delphine and live together in Oxfordshire.  Now 4 and 6 and are full brothers to Sambourne Telo and Sambourne Sirius, we look forward to hearing more about their careers.

Hidden Agenda aka Boston 3 years standing at 15.3 won reserve champ at blue chip as a yearling, 2nd at Aintree Hoys warm up as a 2 year old.  Boston entered his first dressage competition early in 2020 and came third in his Novice Class.  In September he competed in his first ever One Day Event and won!  He is a full brother to Sambourne Kesara and Sambourne Castor lets all hope they all successfully follow their brother.
